Grab your buckets and shovels and join the Maryland Highway Safety Office for our 2nd Annual Cheswick the Crab Sandcastle Contest on Friday, August 14, 2026, at 1 North Division Street on the Ocean City Boardwalk.

The fun takes place during the Power 101.7 Bill and Jess Morning Show. Whether you’re an experienced sand sculptor or simply looking for a family activity, everyone is welcome.

This year’s challenge is to build a sandcastle featuring Cheswick the Crab and a “Walk Smart, Drive Smart, Bike Smart” safety message. You’ll compete for prizes while helping promote safe travel in Ocean City.

The contest supports the Maryland Highway Safety Office’s Walk Smart, Drive Smart, Bike Smart campaign. The campaign encourages residents and visitors to share the road responsibly. It also reminds everyone to stay alert whether they walk, bike, or drive.
