In recent years, about 15% of fatal crashes on Maryland roads involved motorcycles. When the collisions involved a car, the driver was at fault in more than half of cases. Often, they said they didn’t see the motorcycle in time to react. That’s why motorcycle safety requires a cooperative effort between riders and drivers. Riders should follow all traffic laws, use good lane position, and do everything they can to be as visible as possible. Drivers should yield to the rider in accordance with safety laws and always look twice for motorcyclists.
